Inovata Foods Corp. is looking for a full-time millwright to partner with us as we bring families and friends together through offering wholesome and convenient meals. The role is located in our Edmonton, Alberta facility, and will be scheduled 11am - 7:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Inovata Foods Corp. is a major producer of wholesome control brand frozen meals for many of North America’s largest retailers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install, examine, replace, or repair of, but not limited to gearboxes, mechanical assembly and other machineries.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, installing, testing, and repairing electrical or mechanical components and equipment for production operation.
  • Optimize equipment safety and efficiency by participating in continuous improvement projects and completing work orders according to PM schedules.
  • Follow proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during electrical and mechanical work to ensure workplace safety.
  • Adhere to all GMPs and HACCP guidelines.
  • Work within all company safety policies and applicable health and safety legislation
  • Promptly reports equipment failures and breakdowns to lead hands.
  • Evaluate causes for failures and/or breakdowns and suggest preventive/corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Properly and accurately fill in all related departmental paperwork and documents.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and such.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records up to date.
  • Performs emergency repairs and addresses breakdowns, equipment failures, and production interruptions.
  • Participate in training programs regarding equipment operation, safety and maintenance.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional team to schedule maintenance for better equipment performance and to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems related to equipment performance and operation to minimize downtime.
  • Provide mentorship to apprentices, developing their skills in troubleshooting and repair procedures.

Requirements:

  • Journeyperson Certificate is required.
  • 3+ years' experience, preference to that being in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate.
  • Strong fabrication skills/experience.
  • Solid mechanical background with experience in TIG welding, electrical, boilers and refrigeration compressors.

Working Conditions

We strive to help our team members maintain a positive balance between life and work. This position has daily exposure to a food processing environment which includes dampness and cold. Position may require varying start times and extended working hours with occasional weekends to facilitate customer presentations and attendance and production trials and first runs.

Manual Dexterity

General use of computer. Capable of using all associated tools as required by an industrial electrician. Manual dexterity also required when operating any machinery, lifting devices, etc.
