Description:

Basalite Building Products, LLC is one of the largest manufacturers of concrete masonry products in the Western United States. Product lines include structural block, interlocking paving stones, engineered wall systems, retaining walls, ornamental and garden products, and a full range of sack goods. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, and taking daily direction from the maintenance lead, this position is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing machinery in both the Block and Dry Mix production facilities. This position is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION: General

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following, other duties may be assigned.

• Ability to use oxygen/acetylene torch
• Ability to weld in various positions, types of joints, and types of materials. Ability to use an air arc, plasma torch, etc.
• Ability to use a wide variety of shop tools and hand tools.
• Ability to replace or repair bearings, power transmission components and related parts.
• Ability to rebuild hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders and valves. Ability to read pneumatic or hydraulic schematics.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical problems and read simple electrical schematics.
• Ability to work with operators and supervisors to solve problems and implement solutions.
• Ability to plan and implement a preventative maintenance program.
• Work with plant manager to continuously improve the facilities and their respective production processes.
• General building maintenance.
• Make safety a top priority within the plants. Implement improvements to machine and plant safety and demonstrate dedication to safety especially with respect to lock-out and use of PPE. Attend safety meetings and abide by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensure that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
• Predictable and regular attendance is required.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Must be a Red Seal certified Millwright. Will also consider Red Seal certified Metal Fabricator, CWB certified Welder, or Machinist.
• Relevant experience in machinery maintenance and welding in a comparable industrial setting is required.
• Must have strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork and decision-making skills. Candidate is required to have a high level of mathematical and problem-solving skill.
• Ability to use and operate a personal computer. Working knowledge of industrial electricity is an asset.
• Ability to operate a forklift, shop tools, hand tools, multi-meter and any other equipment required to perform duties.
• Must be able to demonstrate commitment to safety and ability to work safely under all conditions.
• Predictable and regular attendance is required.

• Plant environment with dusty and dirty conditions with loud noise, moving machinery and mobile equipment.
• Outdoor environment with ambient weather conditions and mobile equipment.
• Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Wear mandatory and/or other appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Starting rate: $40.17/Hour
