Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic at the Bradley Steel Processors facility in Winnipeg, MB. You will diagnose and repair production equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

The role requires at least 3 years in maintenance, strong hydraulic/electrical skills, welding and robot programming experience, and the ability to read blueprints. HVAC/PLC knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of three (3) years of practical maintenance/repair experience
• Good hydraulic, mechanical and electrical experience
• Good practical welding skills and experience on Robot programming and setup
• Good computer skills and ability to understand machine’s blueprints
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Good time management and organizational skills
• Experience and/or knowledge of HVAC systems and boilers is a definite asset
• Experience and/or knowledge of PLC systems and programming is a definite asset

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair problems with production equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure high-quality output.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and liaise with suppliers for cost improvements.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
• Monitor plant environmental control systems and adjust as needed.
• Ensure regulatory maintenance activities are completed.
• Record daily crane and forklift inspections.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and ensure safety devices function correctly.

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Mechanic at our Bradley Steel Processors - Winnipeg, MB facility.

Job Summary

• Reporting to the location's Supervisor, your focus will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing problems with all production related equipment in a safe and efficient manner. The Maintenance Mechanic will perform routine preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and ensure the product produced is of highest quality. Our ideal candidate will champion a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Be Able To

• Work the following shift with a starting hourly rate of $28.23:
  • 12 hour shift: Friday - Sunday
    • Days 7:00 am- 8:00 pm (paid 1 hour break which includes coffee breaks too)
• Provide us with a criminal background check by uploading it in "attachment documents" when uploading resume or at time of interview
• Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with extremely hot materials while wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Ensure maintenance inventory is appropriate for routine maintenance activities
• Liaise with plant facilities/maintenance suppliers to provide cost improvement initiatives
• Coordination of day-to-day plant maintenance priorities
• Assist in developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs
• Monitor and adjust, if necessary, the plant/office environmental control systems
• Ensure regulatory maintenance activities are completed
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Perform and record daily crane and forklift inspections
• Maintain a clean and environmentally safe work area
• Ensuring operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs
• Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on equipment

Education / Experience Requirements
