Job summary

Saint-Gobain in Smiths Falls is seeking a Maintenance A Mechanic to join our manufacturing team. Responsibilities include maintaining, repairing, installing, and testing equipment to support production and quality; diagnosing issues and providing technical support to the plant.

The role offers permanent full-time employment with a starting wage of $32.00/hour, 40 hours per week on a rotating 6-week shift schedule, and training on day shifts before rotation.

Qualifications

• Trade certification (or equivalent) with a strong commitment to Health & Safety.
• Experience with industrial equipment, including sensors, pneumatic systems, compressors, and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, including preventative maintenance planning and machine optimization.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment such as lathes, welders, plasma cutters, and torches for maintenance and fabrication work.
• Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, and hydraulic maintenance and support external contractors when required.
• Follow all company quality, health and safety policies, and complete other duties as assigned.

What We Offer

• Starting wage: $32.00/hour

During the initial training period, you will work on straight day shifts for several months before transitioning to the regular rotation.

Shift Rotation:

Shift Hours:

• Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Afternoon Shift: 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
• Night Shift: 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Additional Benefits:

• $500 annual tool allowance (ownership of basic hand tools)
• $500 annual boot and work clothing allowance
