Key Responsibilities:

  1. Direct mechanic/electrical team, Maintenance Supervisors, administrator and purchaser
  2. Ensure implementation of Preventive Maintenance Program
  3. Formulate CER’s (Capital Expenditure Requests) for the electronic approval process.
  4. Manage, design & implement capital projects.
  5. Bring forth new ideas to improve on existing production processes.
  6. Propose energy conservation ideas.
  7. Ensure yearly code inspection certificates are acquired (Elec. permit, Boiler inspections, Fire Alarm Inspection etc.)
  8. Monitor and report on mechanical/electrical downtime.
  9. Ensure system for timely completion of Maintenance Repairs and Minor Production Improvements
  10. Lead Environmental Committee and the implementation of the Manufacturing excellence chapter.
  11. Active member of site leadership team.
  12. Coordinate contractor activities as required.
  13. Develop and manage budget for maintenance department.
  14. Monitor and report on budget status.

Experience & Education:

  1. The ideal candidate should have an Engineering degree and/or trade certification as a Licensed Millwright or Licensed Electrician
  2. Preference will be given to candidates with a post-secondary education or equivalent.
  3. A minimum of 5+ years as a maintenance manager experienced in a unionized, strongly automated, fast paced manufacturing facility.
  4. Food, beverage or packaged goods industry is a definite asset.
  5. Competence in PLC for troubleshooting and programming change would be an asset.
  6. Sound knowledge of OHSA.
  7. Proven track record of compliance and continuous improvement in improving safety in the workplace.
  8. Ability to train Direct Reports.
  9. Excellent knowledge of troubleshooting, adjusting, or repairing of equipment.
  10. Working knowledge of work orders and preventative maintenance.
  11. Experience with food processing, CFIA, HACCP, Continuous Improvement Process, Six Sigma would be an asset.
  12. Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as project management skills.
  13. Ability to develop and foster a results-driven team.
  14. Experience in working with operational budgets.
  15. Knowledge of MS Office.
  16. Flexibility to work alternating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
