Job description

Under the guidance of the Director of Engineering, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for all areas of engineering staff development, safety, security, and maintenance of the facility, including mechanical equipment and the physical building in a professional manner. The Maintenance Manager will take lead on the preventative and demand maintenance of the entire facility, while complying with quality assurance and expectation standards; meeting all building safety standards, government and city regulations, building codes, regulations and standards.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead team of engineering staff, providing skill training and motivation while maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
  • Ensure engineering staff adhere to all hotel policies, procedures and service culture.
  • Encourage and motivate employees to perform their best, take responsibility for tasks and assignments, make decisions and provide input on possible improvements.
  • Identify and implement necessary strategies to improve organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety and/or cost-savings. Serve as a departmental role model or mentor by working alongside employees to perform technical or functional job duties.
  • Issue work orders, monitor and ensure work request/work orders are completed efficiently while maintaining a high quality of workmanship and guest satisfaction, meeting or exceeding the appropriate quality standards.
  • Address occupants, tenants and guests’ service needs in a professional, positive and timely manner.
  • Coordinate tasks and work with other departments to ensure that the department runs efficiently.
  • Assist management to ensure that hourly employees have the necessary resources to effectively perform their jobs (e.g., supplies, equipment, and inventory). Follow and maintain proper accounting procedures for purchasing of services and supplies.
  • Monitor contractor’s work performance on site, ensuring good quality workmanship, and also ensuring proper safety procedures and hotel policies are followed.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays and on-call in emergency situations.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Management.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Qualification: Technical, Trade or Vocational School Degree.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in a Hotel or related industry. 2 years experience in a supervisory role within a luxury hotel environment.
  • Qualified candidates must possess in-depth building operations experience, managing day-to-day operations; working knowledge of BAS system; ability to read drawings; and strong knowledge of HVAC central plant system.
  • Good working knowledge in Microsoft office.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
