Job summary

General Motors of Canada is seeking a Maintenance Group Leader/Supervisor to oversee hourly production maintenance teams, ensure safety, quality and cost objectives, and drive continuous improvements. You will coordinate with plant managers and UNIFOR, supervise electricians and maintenance mechanics, and lead downtime planning using Maximo PM.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

In this role, the successful incumbent will be responsible for upholding GM's purpose and values and ensuring the safe work practices of all its employees. You will develop and monitor business plan objectives by managing safety, people, quality, responsiveness, cost and environment. In order to achieve these objectives, you will work with UNIFOR and Plant floor managers from all departments to motivate, train and manage your employee productivity while driving continuous improvements throughout. You will have Supervisory responsibility over a group of Hourly employees engaged in plant production operations, including Electricians and Industrial Maintenance Mechanics. Work involves the coordination of a number of operations involving the ability to make decisions within the limits of general practices and policies. Work is performed under general supervision, while exercising a high level of independent judgment.

  • Embrace Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles as they apply to maintenance organizations
  • Lead activities during equipment breakdowns
  • Plan and coordinate downtime work for Maintenance
REQUIREMENTS
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to motivate employees in a structured environment
  • Ability to work shifts and extended hours, including weekends
  • Successful completion of a University Degree, College Diploma or Trade Certificate in a technical field
  • Maintenance experience working in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Automotive Manufacturing process
Compensation

The salary range for this role is $76,100.00 to $X114,300.00. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
