Job summary

The Village of North Portal is seeking a motivated Maintenance Foreman to oversee public lands, roads, ditches, the lagoon, cemetery, and municipal buildings on a permanent part-time basis with flexible hours. You will supervise seasonal maintenance staff, operate and maintain tractors and mowers, and coordinate routine inspections, minor repairs, and major projects as needed.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid driver's license, demonstrate strong leadership, and work independently to adapt

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
• Professional and respectful attitude.
• Experience operating tractors, mowers and maintenance equipment preferred.
• Experience in equipment maintenance, plumbing, carpentry or general maintenance is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to seasonal demands.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining public lands, roads, alleys, ditches, lagoon, cemetery, and municipal buildings.
• Snow clearing, grass mowing, weed control, tree trimming, and signage installation.
• Operate and maintain municipal equipment including tractors and mowers.
• Perform routine inspections, servicing, minor repairs, and coordinate major repairs.
• Supervise seasonal maintenance staff and assign work.
• Assist waterworks operator with municipal utility tasks.
• Assist during local emergencies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe municipal workshop.

Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Maintaining public lands, roads, alleys, ditches, the lagoon, cemetery, and municipal buildings.
• Snow clearing, grass mowing, weed control, tree trimming, and installation of signage.
• Operating and maintaining municipal equipment, including tractors and mowers.
• Performing routine equipment inspections, servicing, minor repairs, and coordinating major repairs.
• Supervising seasonal maintenance employees (if applicable), assigning work, and ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
• Assisting the waterworks operator with municipal utility tasks as required.
• Assisting during local emergency situations.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe municipal workshop.
