Job summary

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering & Operational Excellence department in Canada. The role blends project management with engineering support, reliability enhancements, and occasional design work in a fast-paced industrial setting.

You will lead capital and maintenance projects from concept through startup, develop scopes and budgets, coordinate diverse teams, and monitor performance to improve asset reliability and plant efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of industrial experience in cement, mining, aggregates, heavy manufacturing, pulp & paper, petrochemical, or similar process industries.
• Ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and drive projects to completion.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of industrial mechanical systems and equipment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Lead small to medium capital and maintenance projects from concept through commissioning and startup.
• Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, technical specs, and execution plans.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, consultants, and cross-functional stakeholders for project delivery.
• Monitor project costs, safety compliance, quality, and schedule adherence.
• Support equipment installations, system upgrades, and plant improvement initiatives.
• Provide engineering support to maintenance and operations teams troubleshooting equipment/process issues.
• Drive reliability improvements for mechanical, rotating, conveying, hydraulic, pneumatic, and material-handling systems.
• Develop equipment standards, maintenance strategies, and preventive maintenance programs.
