Job summary

A leading food manufacturing company is seeking Maintenance Electricians to repair and maintain industrial bakery equipment. Job description

Our client, a leading Food manufacturing company, is seeking Maintenance Electricians to join the team:

As the Maintenance Electrician, you will be required to repair and maintain industrial bakery equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Location: Etobicoke, ON

As a member of the maintenance team, your primary responsibilities include performing electrical maintenance, installing, examining, replacing or repairing components; troubleshooting electrical systems and building services. Additionally, you will provide technical support to production teams to support production uptime, ensuring optimal functioning of the production equipment and facilities. This position plays a critical role in reducing production downtime, implementing and maintaining electrical programs, preventive maintenance of equipment, and effective troubleshooting and repair of equipment. The Electrician participates in team efforts to achieve department goals, works closely with other team members to ensure maintenance activities are completed on time, according to SOPs and regulatory requirements, and provides support to other roles within the maintenance team.

In a typical day, you will:

  • Perform PLC and HMI programming changes and troubleshooting, including modification and calibration of equipment, weight scales, VFDs, Servomotors, and network communications.
  • Repair, troubleshoot, and install machinery, including electrical and electronic equipment, control systems, and automation.
  • Conduct electrical wiring and testing of automated systems.
  • Optimize equipment safety, efficiency, and reliability, participating in continuous improvement projects and completing work orders according to PM schedules. Previous food industry experience is preferred.
  • Comply with all applicable legislative, food safety, health and safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Service, clean, and perform preventive maintenance and overhauls on all production and bakery equipment.
  • Continuously improve equipment function via design improvements.
  • Ensure work areas are clean of debris and hazards at all times and check for hazards upon arrival and departure.
  • Work safely in accordance with legislated and company health and safety standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have an Industrial Electrician License (442A) or 309A.
  • Refrigeration Operator Class "B" Certification is an asset.
  • 2-5 years of industrial, electrical, and mechanical experience, preferably in the food industry.
  • General knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and ability to assist all trades as required.
  • Problem-solving skills and good communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts (day/afternoon/night), Sunday to Saturday.
