Job Summary

Graham Packaging Canada Limited is looking for a Maintenance Electrician based in Mississauga, ON.

Maintenance Electricians are responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls, together with all other activities as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  2. Installs, examines, replaces, or repairs electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and/or other electrical components.
  3. Tests electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  4. Maintains, repairs, installs, and tests switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators, and reactors.
  5. Maintains, repairs, tests, and installs electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries, and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
  6. Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs industrial, electrical, and electronic control systems and other related devices.
  7. Conducts preventive maintenance programs and keeps accurate maintenance records.
  8. May install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices as required.
  9. Facilitates Lock-Out / Tag-Out procedures.

Job Qualifications

  1. Secondary school graduation attained together with the successful completion of a four- or five-year industrial electrician apprenticeship program required. May consider a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and college or industry courses in industrial electrical equipment.
  2. Trade certification mandatory with Interprovincial trade certification (Red Seal) preferred.
  3. A minimum of two (2) years previous experience in manufacturing required.
  4. Superior problem-solving and time management skills.
  5. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  6. Has strong interpersonal skills and maintains constructive working relationships.
  7. Must have the ability to work independently within a defined/documented schedule.
