Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods seeks a Buyer to maintain spare parts inventory and ensure timely purchasing to keep the production line running. You will manage SAP data, vendor records, and material data integrity, while coordinating with suppliers and plant leadership to meet quality targets.

With 7+ years in manufacturing procurement, you’ll navigate OC policies and drive efficient MRPs, pricing, and procedures. Join a team focused on sustainability and continuous improvement across North America.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, plant, or heavy industry as a Buyer or similar
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration preferred or 2-year supply chain diploma with proven experience
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain proper spare parts inventory and timely purchasing to keep production running
  • Record spare parts usage and ensure compliance with OC policies and controls
  • Manage SAP data, vendor records, and material data integrity
  • Liaise with suppliers, plant leadership, and commodity leaders to meet quality expectations
  • Manage MRP list daily and handle procurement card purchases within policy

Job description

The Opportunity:

The Buyer is responsible for maintaining proper inventory of spare parts required to keep the production line running. This includes timely purchasing, accurate recording of spare parts usage and compliance with all MLF site and corporate standard operating procedures and policies. The Buyer is a key contributor to the continuous improvements of critical plant performance metrics in the areas of maintenance, productions, and finance.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
  • Implements and manages purchasing procedures and processes to ensure the plant receives the right materials in the right quantity at the right time
  • Executes purchasing transactions efficiently and consistently with OC sourcing policies, standards, operating procedures, and financial controls consistent with sourcing policies and financial controls
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data in SAP, ensure data quality and integrity of vendor and material data
  • Work with suppliers, commodity leaders, and plant leadership to ensure supply quality expectations are met
  • Manage local inventory consignment agreements through inventory reconciliation
  • Resolve all open accounts payable issues as they occur
  • Maintains proper inventory of spare parts (including mix and quantity) required to keep production line running by timely purchasing and accurate recording of spare parts usage
  • Manages MRP list on a daily basis
  • Manages purchasing process (including procurement card purchases) for all purchases within the plant within the guidance per OC policies and regulations. Resolving issues involving invoicing, pricing, quantity and necessity of the part.
  • Creates and maintains Info Records and Source Lists as required by site record retention protocol.
  • Review following weeks planned material requirements and provide updates on material due dates to meet the needs of maintenance and planning/scheduling.
What You’ll Bring:
  • 7+ year of experience in manufacturing, plant, or heavy industry experience as a Buyer or a related role such as supply change management, procurement, buying, and purchasing is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration is preferred; considerations will be given to individuals with 2 year diploma in supply chain and procurement with proven experience.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office suite of products is required
