Clubhouse Full Time Mississauga, ON $24 - $24.80 CAD per hour

The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is one of Canada’s top private all-season golf clubs, with a diverse membership of 1,400 members and an outstanding Tier One golf course famous for its excellence. The Club has played host to numerous premier events, including six Canadian Opens.

Founded in 1906, MG&CC is a year-round private club that offers golf, curling, fitness, tennis, dining, and social amenities. Our Tudor style Clubhouse is a spectacular venue for casual and fine dining, banquets, weddings, and various social events and functions.

Position Summary

We are looking for a Full-Time Maintenance Technician who will work closely with the Facility Manager to ensure that all areas of the Clubhouse, including dining areas, offices, washrooms, locker rooms, and external facilities (range hut, tennis house, and halfway house) are maintained to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Facility Manager and Supervisor with the overall maintenance of the facility, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, building equipment repairs, painting, carpentry, and special projects.
  2. Liaise with external contractors and inspectors, identify and assess maintenance issues, and conduct daily inspections of the facility.
  3. Maintain log books pertaining to projects and HVAC systems.
  4. Take receipt of deliveries and store items relating to maintenance.
  5. Report maintenance deficiencies to the Facility Manager.
  6. Carry out repairs and maintenance work as requested by the Facility Manager, ensuring that the work is carried out safely, efficiently, and with minimum disruption to members and guests.
  7. Perform cleanup at the end of the day or when the job is completed, including picking up tools, spills, debris, and cleaning work areas.
  8. Develop a thorough knowledge of all fire emergency systems and complete monthly audits of fire extinguishers.
  9. Ensure that all effort is made to repair faults to rooms without delay to avoid any inconvenience to members.
  10. Perform preparatory work for maintenance activities, including gathering equipment, materials, and supplies.
  11. Communicate and interact effectively with co-workers, members, guests, and supervisors.
  12. Assist in other departments when required.
  13. Perform a variety of routine physical labour tasks.
  14. Work independently or in a team situation.
  15. Build and maintain positive relations with all departments and respond with a sense of urgency to maintenance service requests.
  16. Ensure compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental, building code, and health and safety issues.
  17. Collaborate with the Facility Manager to coordinate major building efficiencies and repairs.
  18. Perform all work in a safe, cautious, and professional manner, wearing personal protective equipment as required.
  19. Assist with setting up rooms for events and functions.
  20. Perform other duties as directed by the Facility Manager.
  21. Assess mechanical malfunctions and contact the appropriate service provider.
  22. Work closely with the cleaning department to coordinate special event functions.

Requirements

  1. 2-3 years of proven experience performing general building maintenance and repairs in a professional environment.
  2. Secondary school diploma or equivalent is required.
  3. Basic knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, painting, and general repair.
  4. Experience with power saws, maintenance equipment, and general shop tools is required.
  5. Ability to work with chemicals and solvents.
  6. Valid driver’s license required.
  7. Must provide a criminal background certificate.
  8. Sufficient physical strength and ability to independently and repeatedly lift and carry up to 50lbs, move and push objects weighing up to 75 pounds, and lift, move, and carry objects weighing more than 75 pounds with assistance.
  9. Accurate measuring skills.
  10. Effective written and oral communication skills.
  11. Service-oriented – courteous and friendly.
  12. Ability to perform work with minimal supervision.
  13. Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  14. Work efficiently while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  15. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  16. No difficulty with sitting, standing, climbing stairs, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
