Software International (SI) supplies technical talent to a variety of Fortune 100/500/1000 and other companies in Canada/US.
We are currently hiring for a Mainframe Security Architect for our global IT infrastructure consulting client.
Rate: $110-130/hr CAD C2C
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months initially, then multiple 6 - 12 month extensions
Job Role & Responsibility: Mainframe Security Architect
Candidate Requirements:
- Primary role: Mainframe Security System ACF2 & RACF SME/Architect
- Strong understanding of Mainframe software and hardware, specifically a minimum of 8 years experience as a z/OS System Programmer
- Strong people management and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to act as a bridge between client and Kyndryl Sales, Proposal Managers, Project Managers, System Programmers, and Infrastructure Specialists
- Technical leadership in resolving difficult problems
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Capability to handle multiple tasks across various projects
- Flexibility to work off-hours when required
- Proficiency in documenting technical artifacts accurately
- Proven track record of achieving win/win scenarios
Preferred (additional) skills include:
- SMP/E, system utilities, ACF2, RACF, IO Gen (HCD), Assembler Language, BMC & IBM Scheduler software, TSO, ISPF, understanding of problem & change management (experience with eESM is an asset), installation and support of program products, JES2 and JES3 advanced skills, understanding of SYSPLEX concepts, familiarity with CPU keys, experience working with vendors (IBM and others)
Candidate will:
- Ideally be bilingual (English, French)

- Be an engaging and influential personality that can earn the trust of clients and colleagues
- Have experience with major z/OS subsystems: CICS, IMS, MQ, and DB2
- Be passionate about identifying and growing business opportunities

- Experience working in virtual team environments, communicating across the country
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients, sales, proposal managers, and vendors to architect solutions
- Work with internal mainframe system programmers and project managers to deliver solutions
- Document solutions, including roadmaps, design documents, diagrams, and project plans, using tools like Word, Visio, MS Project, and PowerPoint
- Gather business and technical requirements from various teams
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously across different clients
- Mediate and manage architectural conditions, including contractual requirements
- Educate, mentor, and coach teams in architectural techniques
