Orica Canada invites applications for an Inventory Controller - UG at Red Chris, BC. This entry level role focuses on explosives storage, dispatch, and compliance with federal/provincial regulations. Training is provided, with a 14x14 rotation and camp lodging, plus transport from major cities.

About the role - 40738 - Inventory Controller - Underground (Red Chris, BC)

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Inventory Controller - UG within our Orica Canada team focused on ensuring the efficient and effective operations in the Red Chris Underground Explosive Storage area to dispatch and receive finished products, detonators, tubing, and raw materials in accordance with the national code for the transport of explosives by road and rail and established Safety and Quality standards.

This is an entry level role that will provide excellent training and exposure for future career growth within Orica.

Rotation schedule: 14 x 14 – Fly in/Fly Out

Lodging is provided at Red Chris camp site.

Transportation will be provided to Red Chris from Vancouver, Calgary, Kelowna and Smithers.

What you will be doing

• Maintain accurate daily logs, stock counts, and reconciliation records for all explosives, detonators, and accessories to ensure full accountability.
• Ensure underground magazines remain clean, secure, dry, and organized in strict compliance with federal and provincial explosives regulations.
• Handle the loading, unloading, and transfer of finished explosive products and raw materials for underground distribution.
• Follow Orica's safety protocols, conduct routine facility inspections, and minimize risks associated with hazardous materials.
• Ensuring that the Distribution Safety schedule is met and adequate feedback is provided to Distribution Operators.
• Liaising with Regional Distribution Officer to ensure documentation flows in a timely manner to meet scheduled requirements.
• Manage explosives limits within the magazines as required by the Explosives Regulations
• Ensure cost effective and timely delivery of product. Establish cost effective working relationships

What you will bring

• Sound knowledge of the Distribution Process.
• A good understanding of the quality system.
• Knowledge of SHES policy and regulations governing the National code for the transport of explosives by road.
• Hazard / risk analysis skills
• Basic knowledge of ergonomics and manual handling technique
• Leadership experience would be an advantage, but not required.
• Some exposure to SAP is advantageous, but not required.
• Have completed or be willing to complete the Orica Magazine Keeper Training.
• Have or be willing to obtain BC

Physical requirements

• Must be able to lift/carry 45-50 lbs. And push/pull 50-250 lbs.in a safe manner.
• Must be able to perform frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, and squatting.
• Must be able to perform frequent reaching over the shoulder, waist level, and from the floor.
