Job summary

Kings Energy Services Ltd in Nisku is seeking an experienced Machinist to fabricate parts to exact specifications. Immediate start, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM at our Nisku, AB location.

You will set up and operate Mazak CNC lathes and mills, read blueprints, test parts, and ensure conformance to drawings. Strong math, problem-solving, and teamwork are essential for success in our fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 70lbs.
• Previous Mazak CNC Lathe and Mill experience is a requirement
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work within a complex, fast-moving work environment under minimal supervision.
• Participation in Safety Program and Quality Assurance Program
• Strong computer skills; MS Office proficient with an ability to learn new programs
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work as a positive contributing member within a team environment.
• Functional understanding of imperial and metric systems.
• Familiar with reading blueprints, schematics and manuals
• Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
• Understanding of properties of metal and other materials
• A valid driver's license and the ability to provide a clean driving record

Responsibilities

• Take direction and fulfill responsibilities from the Manufacturing Foreman
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using math and instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers)
• Machine parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines or grinders
• Measure, examine and test completed units to detect defects
• Set up, adjust, and operate basic and advanced machine tools
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments and materials
• Monitor feed and speed during machining
• Study parts, blueprints and drawings to determine methods and sequences
• Select tools, machines and materials for machinery work
• Observe operating machines to diagnose malfunctions and determine repairs
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools and equipment
• Program computers and NC instruments
• Initiate Non-Conformance reports for non-conforming products/services
• Demonstrate and emphasize safety conscious attitude

Role Responsibilities

• Take direction and fulfill responsibilities from the Manufacturing Foreman
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier callipers.
• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines or grinders.
• Measure, examine and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations.
• Select the appropriate tools, machines and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools and equipment.
• Program computers and electronic instruments such as numerically controlled machine tools.
