Job summary

The Hercules Group of Companies is seeking a full-time Machinist in Truro, NS to service our machine shop and on-site projects. You will read blueprints, set up and operate conventional and CNC machines, and verify tolerances with standard inspection tools.

Responsibilities include creating fixtures, diagnosing mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and traveling for on-site machining as needed. A high school diploma is required; Journeyman Red Seal is an asset.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings or manuals to determine machining specifications.
• Operate conventional machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinders) and CNC equipment.
• Verify dimensions with micrometers, calipers, and other inspection tools.
• Create and repair jigs/fixtures for onsite and production work.
• Travel to perform on-site machining as required.

We are looking for a full time Machinist in Truro, NS. Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Machinist provides services both in our machine shop and on-site, using conventional machining equipment, CNC equipment and portable machining gear.

Principle Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces
• Operate conventional machining equipment such as lathes, mills, surface grinders, etc.
• Verify dimensions of machined tools or parts for accuracy and conformance to specifications using instruments such as: micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, depth micrometers, indicators, thread gauges, blank gauges and other specialized instruments
• Creation and repair of jigs and fixtures for both onsite equipment and production purposes
• Repair mechanical problems and problem solve
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
• Travel required when performing on-site machining

Required Knowledge And Training

• Completion of high school or equivalent required
• Experience working as a machinist
• Hold Journeyman inter-provincial Red Seal Machinist considered an asset
• Experience as a welder considered an asset
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
