Job summary

Careers in Ag seeks a skilled Machinist to operate lathe and mill, reading blueprints to manufacture and maintain parts. You will write basic programs, verify measurements, and ensure parts meet quality standards in a safe shop environment.

The role requires Grade 12, Saskatchewan journeyperson machinist certification or equivalent, and 1 year of manual/CNC experience. Lifting and precise measuring with calipers/micrometers are essential.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Saskatchewan journeyperson machinist certificate or equivalent.
• 1 year accumulated manual/CNC machine shop experience.
• Ability to read calipers, micrometers, protractors and tape measures.
• Capable of accurate measurements and data recording.

Responsibilities

• Operate lathe and mill to manufacture or maintain parts.
• Follow blueprints and specifications to ensure accuracy.
• Write basic programs for custom product lines.
• Meet production deadlines and measure parts for quality.
• Comply with safety regulations and company manuals.
• Maintain measurement records and document findings.
• Assist with setup and changeovers as needed.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors.

What will you do?

• Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
• Follow safety guidelines (as per our Safety Manual)
• Meet quality standards (as per our Quality Manual
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors or managers
• Operate lathe and mill to manufacture custom or maintenance parts.
• Measure and examine specifications using mathematics, micrometers and vernier calipers
• Check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications
• Write basic programs for custom product lines
• Ensure parts are machined in a timely manner to meet production requirements

What do you need to succeed?

• Grade 12 education or equivalent (required)
• Saskatchewan journeyperson machinist certificate, or equivalent
• 1 year accumulated manual/CNC machine shop experience
• Capable of accurately reading calipers, micrometers, protractors and tape measures
• Take accurate measurements and data recording
• Mathematical skills to include fractions, decimals and metric system
• Familiarity with basic tools and mechanically inclined
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
