Job summary

Magna Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting (MML) is seeking a skilled machinist to retrieve tooling prints, interpret drawings, and build tool/die components with precision. The role involves operating mills, lathes, and related equipment while documenting hours and upholding safety and environmental standards.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and a certified general machinist apprenticeship, plus CAD/CAM knowledge to support continuous improvement within Techform and enable meeting

Qualifications

  • Minimum grade 12 or equivalent; machinist apprenticeship required.
  • General machinist certification and apprenticeship completed.
  • Ability to read and interpret prints.
  • Knowledge of CNC principles and CAD/CAM is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve and review tooling prints for material and machining requirements.
  • Perform all aspects of the tool/die component build for new and existing tools as directed by the tool & die maker.
  • Work with milling machines, drill presses, grinders, band saws and lathes; maintain hours logging forms.
  • Ensure environmental requirements are identified and addressed when performing duties.
  • Ensure safety requirements are being carried out when performing duties.
  • Comply with defined Business and Environmental Management Systems requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within Techform.
  • Support attainment of Techform's operating system goals as outlined by the key graphs.
  • Carry out duties focusing on internal and external customer satisfaction.

Group Summary:

The Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting group specializes in automotive technologies that are driving the future of mobility. Job Responsibilities:

Salary Range: $37.00-$40.00/per hour

  • Retrieve and review tooling prints for material and machining requirements.
  • Perform all aspects of the tool/die component build for new and existing tools as directed by the tool & die maker requirements.
  • Work is completed through use of milling machines, drill presses, assorted grinders, band and cut-off saws, lathes, lay-out tables, measuring equipment and heat treat ovens; Maintain the required forms for the purpose of recording the number of hours spent on each project.

Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Minimum grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Post secondary education with full certification as a general machinist with the associated apprenticeship is required.
  • The ability to create and interpret prints is required.
  • Knowledge of CNC principles is required.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM would be a definite asset.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Attention to detail is key.
