Job summary

Magna Cosma International is seeking a Millwright Technical Team Member to maintain equipment, respond to line calls, and support continuous production. You will work in a fast-paced automotive environment, following safety standards, reading drawings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires an Ontario Millwright qualification, hands-on experience with PLCs and robotics, and strong problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification in Millwright is required.
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or recognized equivalent.
  • Knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley/Siemens) is an asset.
  • Robotics experience with Fanuc or Kuka is an asset.
  • Strong math, reading drawings, and basic electrical knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and follows-up on maintenance of equipment and lines.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs and improves systems to minimize downtime.
  • Identifies root causes of failures and feasibility of modifications.
  • Maintains maintenance records and generates work orders.
  • Performs preventive maintenance to defined schedules.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and schematics.
  • Ensures operator safety devices function after repairs.
  • Collaborates with engineering and production teams.

Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Millwright Technical Team Member will maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to line calls and equipment failures. The Millwright Technical Team Member routinely performs work independently and must be able to work in an environment with many distractions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing their duties.

Salary Range:

$48.00 per hour

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification in Millwright
  • Candidates will have a Certificate of Apprenticeship or possess a recognized equivalent (testing to validate abilities may be required)
  • Knowledge and experience with Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLC an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with troubleshooting Robotics (Fanuc and Kuka) an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of English, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mathematics
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical
  • Basic machining skills (mills, lathes and grinders)
  • Demonstrated ability to use measuring instruments (micrometers, verniers and calipers)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, pumps, gear boxes, bearing, seals and alignment of couplings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of welding (mig, stick, brazing, oxyacetylene)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of rigging and man-lifts
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently, without supervision
  • Ability to work to deadlines and support multiple demands
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establishes and follows-up on project implementation, including timing, concept, feasibility, design, specifications, construction and commissioning, as required
  • Provides support in troubleshooting, repairing and making system improvements (optimization), to ensure quality and efficiencies within the department
  • Identifies root cause of equipment failures and follow-up on feasibility of modifications
  • Analyzes, records, charts and maintains all documentation for maintenance records, projects and departments, including generating work orders and updates to the Fix System
  • Prepares drawings and materials specifications for requisitions required by vendors or other departments
  • Develops controls drawings and design concepts
  • Deals with various vendors (Supplier and Equipment)
  • Participates in cross-functional training (multi-skilling) activities related to other trades, within the organization
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency in achieving results
  • Performs preventative maintenance to defined schedules
  • Assists and supports in all other technical areas, where required
  • Ensures all operator safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications and installations
  • Maintains a clean and environmentally safe workshop and production lines
  • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e., IATF16949, ISO14001)
  • Understands, promote and live by Magna’s philosophies and Employee Charter
