Join Our Team as a Machine Tool Builder / Tool & Die Maker!
Valiant TMS, a global industry leader, is looking for a skilled and dedicated Machine Tool Builder / Tool & Die Maker to join our E.R. St. Denis team! You will be responsible for building and assembling custom hemming tools. If you have a passion for hands-on work and a keen eye for detail, this may be the perfect opportunity for you!
What you’ll get to do
- Blueprint and Schematic Review: Analyze blueprints and schematic drawings to determine machining processes, dimensions, and assembly procedures using your knowledge of tool design, shop mathematics, and machining methodologies.
- Metal Stock Layout: Measure, mark, or scribe metal stock to lay out for machining using appropriate layout tools and techniques.
- Assembly and Installation: Assemble and install component parts into machinery using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Machine Tool Operation: Set up and operate various machine tools (lathe, mill, grinder, etc.) to cut, turn, mill, weld, bore, and grind parts to exact specifications.
- Verification and Testing: Check the conformance of machined parts using measuring instruments such as dial indicators, height gauges, micrometers, and gauge blocks to ensure dimensional accuracy, clearances, and alignment.
- Tool Testing: Test completed tools, fixtures, gauges, and other equipment to verify that they function within normal and established parameters.
- Collaboration with Engineering: Recommend changes to design based on operational data and observations to the engineering department.
- Customer Interaction: Review job status and functionality with customer follow-up personnel to ensure satisfaction.
- Rigging and Dismantling: Perform rigging and dismantling when the machinery is ready for shipment.
- Installation and Support: Provide on-site installation and support at customer locations across North America.
What we are looking for
- Experience: 5-8 years of relevant work experience in machine tool building, tool & die making, or a related field.
- Education: Minimum high school diploma. Completion of an apprenticeship in machine tool build or tool & die making (or a related trade) is a bonus.
- Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Travel: Must be willing and able to travel within North America for installations and support.
