Job summary

Svante Inc. is seeking a Machine Structure Design Engineer to design and engineer structural elements for carbon capture machines. You will take concepts from CAD models through prototype to production, performing analyses, tests, and documentation.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external vendors to deliver reliable, manufacturable solutions. Ideal candidates have 5–8 years in mechanical structures or machine design, a BC‑based P.Eng or eligibility, and strong Creo/FEA

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline, plus 5–8 years of relevant experience in mechanical structures or machine design.
• Strong knowledge of metallic materials, structural design, manufacturing/joining techniques; understanding of mechanics of materials, heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
• P.Eng. in British Columbia or eligible; familiar with CSA S16 and/or AISC 360 structural codes.
• Experience with FEA methods and limitations; creating detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings, ideally using Creo.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to self-manage priorities, take initiative, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality engineering designs and structural analyses within timelines and requirements.
• Develop prototype and production-ready designs using 3D CAD, FEA, simulations, and testing.
• Create engineering calculations, analyses, and detailed drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
• Apply engineering judgment to interpret results and provide clear recommendations; collaborate with Supply Chain and vendors.
• Mentor junior engineers and strengthen Creo, PLM, and FEA capabilities within the team.

Purpose of the Role:

As the Machine Structure Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and engineering of Svante's commercial-scale carbon-capture machines, with a primary focus on structural elements used in large rotating and stationary equipment.

You will take engineering concepts through prototype and production design using CAD, engineering analysis, simulations, and physical testing. You will apply strong engineering fundamentals and structural design principles to develop reliable, manufacturable, and serviceable solutions while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and external vendors.

This position is ideal for an experienced mechanical or structural engineer who combines strong design and analytical capabilities with hands-on experience in CAD, FEA, structural design, manufacturing, and engineering documentation, and who is comfortable taking ownership of complex engineering challenges in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• You have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline, along with 5-8 years of relevant experience in mechanical structures, machine design, or a similar engineering field.
• You have excellent knowledge of metallic materials, structural design, manufacturing and joining techniques, along with a strong understanding of mechanics of materials, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
• You are a P.Eng. in British Columbia or eligible to apply for the designation, with knowledge of structural steel design codes such as CSA S16 and/or AISC 360.
• You have demonstrated experience with FEA methods and limitations, as well as creating detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings, ideally using Creo.
• You are a strong problem-solver and communicator who can self-manage priorities, take initiative, work independently, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.

What Success Looks Like in This Role:

• You will consistently deliver high-quality engineering designs and structural analysis solutions within agreed timelines, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
• You will evolve engineering concepts into prototype and production-ready designs using 3D CAD, FEA, simulations, and physical testing, ensuring designs meet applicable structural and engineering requirements.
• You will develop engineering calculations, structural analyses, detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, and assembly documentation that clearly communicate design intent and support manufacturing, assembly, serviceability, and reliability.
• You will apply sound engineering judgment to solve complex problems, interpret analysis and simulation results, and provide clear conclusions and recommendations while collaborating with Supply Chain and external vendors to support successful delivery.
• You will contribute to the development of the engineering team by mentoring junior engineers and continuously strengthening expertise in Creo, PLM systems, FEA software, and the technologies used in Svante's commercial-scale carbon-capture machines.
