Job summary

RTX's Oakville Facility in Ontario seeks a skilled Machine Shop Technician - Lathe to work on complex AHT parts to drawing, operating CNC lathes, and ensuring precision in a fast-paced shop environment.

Reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor, you will work on the weekday afternoon shift (4:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.), contribute to quality logs, and participate in continuous improvement activities within the cell.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 3–5 years of current lathe machining experience.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Experience using measuring equipment to support quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform own manual set-ups by positioning and aligning tooling per set-up instructions using CNC programming language (G codes).
• Maintain tolerances by observing operation and making necessary machine offset adjustments, cutter changes and self-inspection (OSV).
• Document actions in support of quality logs and communicate discrepancies; create Product Defect Sheets (PDS) as required.
• Perform work from set-up sheets, manufacturing sheets and drawings.
• Support continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work.
• Operate other machines within the cell as needed.

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire Machine Shop Technician - Lathe; reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor on the weekday afternoon shift, as the Machine Shop Technician - Lathe, you will be working with complex AHT parts to produce aircraft parts to drawing while operating machines in the cell.

Work Location: Oakville Facility, Ontario - Canada

Shift Hours - Weekday Afternoon (Monday-Friday) 4:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.

What You Will Do

• Perform own manual set-ups by positioning and aligning tooling per set-up instructions using CNC programming language (G codes).
• Maintain tolerances by observing operation and making necessary machine offset adjustments, cutter changes and self-inspection (OSV-Operator Self Verification).
• Document actions in support of quality logs, communicate all discrepancies in machining to supervision and create Product Defect Sheets (PDS) as required.
• Perform work from set-up sheets, manufacturing sheets and drawings.
• Support and promote continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work
• Development in the cell.
• Multi-task and operate other machines within the cell.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications We Require

• Typically; High school diploma, and a minimum of 3-5 years of current Lathe machining experience
• Experience utilizing measuring equipment in support of quality requirements
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• The selected candidate has to be eligible to work in Canada; successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP

Qualifications We Prefer

• Certificate of Qualification (C of Q)
• Demonstrated ability to operate and use an overhead crane in a safe manner

The salary range for this role is 61,334 CAD - 97,190 CAD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
