Job summary

RTX Collins Aerospace is hiring a Machine Shop Technician - Lathe for the Oakville facility in Ontario, Canada. You will operate lathe machines to produce aircraft parts to drawings on the weekend days shift (Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.), onsite and report to the Machine Shop Supervisor.

The role requires 3–5 years lathe experience, blueprint reading and measurement skills, ITAR/CCGP eligibility, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus 3-5 years lathe machining experience.
  • Experience using measuring equipment to support quality requirements.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Eligible to work in Canada and meet ITAR/CCGP requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform own manual set-ups by positioning and aligning tooling per set-up instructions using CNC programming language (G codes).
  • Maintain tolerances by observing operation and making necessary machine offset adjustments, cutter changes and self-inspection (OSV).
  • Document actions in quality logs and create Product Defect Sheets (PDS) as required.
  • Operate from set-up sheets, manufacturing sheets and drawings.
  • Support continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work.
  • Develop in the cell and multi-task with other machines.

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire Machine Shop Technician - Lathe; reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor on the weekday afternoon shift, as the Machine Shop Technician – Lathe, you will be working with complex AHT parts to produce aircraft parts to drawing while operating machines in the cell.

Work Location: Oakville Facility, Ontario – Canada

Shift Hours – Weekend Days (Friday-Sunday) 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

What You Will Do
  • Perform own manual set‑ups by positioning and aligning tooling per set‑up instructions using CNC programming language (G codes).
  • Maintain tolerances by observing operation and making necessary machine offset adjustments, cutter changes and self‑inspection (OSV-Operator Self Verification).
  • Document actions in support of quality logs, communicate all discrepancies in machining to supervision and create Product Defect Sheets (PDS) as required.
  • Perform work from set‑up sheets, manufacturing sheets and drawings.
  • Support and promote continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work
  • Development in the cell.
  • Multi‑task and operate other machines within the cell.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications We Require
  • Typically; High school diploma, and a minimum of 3-5 years of current Lathe machining experience
  • Experience utilizing measuring equipment in support of quality requirements
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • The selected candidate has to be eligible to work in Canada; successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and use an overhead crane in a safe manner

The salary range for this role is 61,334 CAD – 97,190 CAD . The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
