Job summary

RTX's Oakville, Ontario facility is seeking a Machine Shop Technician – Grinder for the Weekend Nights shift. You will perform ID and OD grinding on large chrome and HVOF plated aircraft components and support lean initiatives.

The role requires 3–5 years in Grinding/Lathe/CNC Machining, ability to read blueprints, work to close tolerances, and eligibility to work in Canada per ITAR/CCGP. Training is 4–6 weeks, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 3–5 years grinding/lathe/CNC experience.
• Familiar with close tolerances and blueprint reading; use of measuring equipment.
• Eligible to work in Canada; must meet ITAR and CCGP requirements.
• Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) with 3 years cylindrical grinding large components.

Responsibilities

• ID and OD grinding of large chrome and HVOF plated aircraft components.
• Participate in lean initiatives (5S, TPM, process improvement teams)
• Coordinate priorities and process issues between operators and shifts
• Observe and adhere to safety policies and procedures
• Use of cranes to move parts
• Support continuous improvement and 5S in the cell
• Multi-task and operate other machines within the cell
• Training time of 4–6 weeks to fully assume responsibilities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire Machine Shop Technician – Grinder, Reporting to the Supervisor – Processing, as the Machine Shop Technician - Grinding, you will be responsible for general grinding on the weekend night shift.

Weekend Nights (Friday-Sunday) 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.

What You Will Do

• ID and OD grinding of large chrome and HVOF plated aircraft components
• Participate in lean initiatives (i.e. 5S, TPM, process improvement teams)
• Communicate and co-ordinate priorities and process issues between operators and shifts
• Observe and adhere to all safety policies and procedures
• Use of Cranes to move parts
• Support and promote continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work Development in the cell
• Multi-task and operate other machines within the cell
• Can fully achieve the responsibilities of the position within a training time of 4-6 weeks
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma, and 3 - 5 years of experience in Grinding/ Lathe/ CNC Machining
• Experience with machine shop practices, including lathe, Turning , Vhone and / or Grinding
• Experience working to close tolerances and solid understanding of blueprint reading and all associated measuring equipment
• The selected candidate has to be eligible to work in Canada; successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP
• Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) 3 years of cylindrical grinding experience of large components

Salary range

The salary range for this role is 61,334 CAD – 81,003 CAD . The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
