Job summary

Permacon, a division of Oldcastle® Architectural, is seeking a Machine Operator for its Metcalfe facility near Ottawa, Ontario. The role requires rotating days/evening shifts or weekends when required.

You will operate Rekers (dry side), strapping/wrapping machines and related equipment, while following quality protocols and maintaining good product curing. The position emphasizes teamwork, mechanical aptitude, and initiative, with required safety PPE and a focus on reliable operation and clean

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Wielding, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge is an asset.
• At least 2 years’ experience in manufacturing operating equipment.
• Teamwork oriented with initiative; be responsible, able to react and be precise.
• Shall pass the mechanical aptitude test.

Responsibilities

• Operate Rekers machine (dry side) and ensure its good functioning.
• Operate strapping and wrapping machines and ensure its good functioning.
• Operate all equipment related to the machine.
• Follow the quality manual; complete quality and production reports; monitor curing.
• Perform set-up changes and start-up adjustments.
• Program equipment and create product recipes for changes over.
• Perform preventive maintenance and participate in maintenance work.
• Help keep the Rekers department clean and organized.
• Communicate abnormalities or faults to the team.
• Work as a team and wear PPE as required.
