Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with the Town of Antigonish to recruit a Machine Operator/Labourer to join their Public Works Department in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
The Town of Antigonish is a vibrant and growing community committed to delivering high-quality municipal services to residents and businesses.
As part of the Public Works Department, you will support the delivery of essential municipal services through the operation of heavy equipment, infrastructure maintenance, and snow and ice control activities throughout the Town.
This is a permanent, full-time, unionized position with regular hours of Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. The successful candidate must be available for standby and after-hours emergency call-out assistance as required.
Reporting to the Superintendent of Public Works, the Machine Operator/Labourer is responsible for operating assigned Public Works equipment and supporting municipal infrastructure maintenance activities. This role plays an important part in ensuring the safe and effective operation of municipal services while maintaining compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements.
As the ideal candidate, you are a safety-conscious and dependable individual with experience operating heavy equipment and supporting municipal services. You take pride in maintaining public infrastructure and can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preference will be given to candidates with two (2) or more years of experience related to the duties of the position.
Proof of certifications and licences will be required, and candidates may be required to complete a skills assessment as part of the recruitment process.
