Job summary

Carpenter Canada Co. in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a Machine Operator for the 2nd shift (2:30 pm to 11:00 pm) at our Calgary manufacturing plant.

Qualifications

• High School Education or GED.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math.
• Reading a tape measure is required.
• Prior manufacturing experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-use inspection of the production equipment.
• Follow work instructions and production schedule.
• Operate equipment safely and maintain SAP records.
• Perform quality checks to meet customer specifications.
• Print stock labels or enter production figures into SAP.
• Label finished products correctly and ensure packaging integrity.
• Perform basic maintenance and housekeeping on equipment.
• Support Kaizen and continuous improvement efforts.

Carpenter Canada Co. has an immediate opening for a Machine Operator - 2nd shift (2:30 pm to 11:00 pm) at our Calgary manufacturing plant.

This position is responsible for the safe operation of assigned equipment or machine used in manufacturing of components and/or finished products for internal and external customers as defined by a daily production schedule.

The additional responsibilities as Machine Operator will include:

• Conduct pre use inspection of the assigned production equipment
• Follow work instruction and production schedule
• Operate assigned equipment safely
• Maintain relevant records in the SAP system
• Conducts quality checks as required to meet customer's specification
• Print stock shipping labels or enter production figures into SAP
• Ensure all finished products are labelled correctly
• Operate heat bond iron to seal packaging material
• Perform basic maintenance of the equipment as required
• Perform housekeeping on equipment and surrounding work area.
• Help perform routine simple maintenance on machinery
• Ensure work area is clean and orderly by disposing of departmental waste.
• Practice Kaizen principles of continuous improvement

Skills and Requirements

• Able to read and interpret a tape measure
• Prior experience in a manufacturing working environment is an asset
