Job summary

Zurn Elkay Water Solutions Corporation in Calgary, AB is hiring a Press/Punch Brake Machine Operator for the evening shift (3:00 PM–1:30 AM, Monday–Thursday). The role involves operating brake presses and notching machines, following safety procedures, and meeting daily production targets.

Ideal candidates will have 2–3 years of manufacturing experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a willingness to train across departments while maintaining quality and efficiency on the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • Flexibility to work extra hours during weekdays and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Operate brake press and punch/ brake machinery.
  • Set up and adjust machine settings to meet specifications and timelines.
  • Ensure QMS/EHS guidelines and PPE use on the shop floor.
  • Read blueprints to position and secure machinery.
  • Support multiple departments and train in other tasks as needed.
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards on shift.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking to fill in a Press/ Punch Brake Machine Operator position for our Lockers Manufacturing plant based in Calgary, AB. This position is for the evening shift/ 10 hours Monday- Thursday (03:00PM- 01:30 AM). The Press/ Punch Brake Machine Operator is responsible for successfully completing various tasks within one or more areas of the press shop. Preferably well familiar with standards concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. The operator must be detail-oriented, possess a strong work ethic, display a contagious ability to motivate coworkers, successfully meet the daily goal requirements, and fearless attitude on exceeding company targets.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works with Supervisor and Lead Hand to ensure that daily productivity targets are met in a timely and safe manner.
  • Demonstrate positive and safe workplace behavior at all times and work as a team in the achievement of daily production targets.
  • Completes a variety of tasks within a department (Press Shop, Assembly line, Cut to length and Shear)
  • Sets up and operates brake press and/ Or notching machines, in accordance with established safe procedures.
  • Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with company’s EHS guidelines and ensure all required PPE are used while working on the manufacturing shop floor
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery.
  • Focuses on learning additional tasks and ensuring quality at all times.
  • Perform repetitive tasks and handle material up to 5-20 Lbs. for 10-hour shift.
  • Contributes to the overall functioning of the team by maintaining awareness of best practices/emerging issues, both internally and externally, sharing best practices and building effective working relationships across the team and company.
  • Strong desire to train in any/all departments.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 2-3 years of manufacturing experience in the field or in a related area
  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Able to demonstrate good understanding on Standard Work Instruction for all tasks expected to perform
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
  • Must be flexible to work extra hours during weekdays and weekends
  • Demonstrates some leadership skills through informal coaching and teaching others
