Fluent Software Group is seeking an M&A Associate to combine strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to originate opportunities and build trusted relationships with business owners.

You’ll identify acquisition opportunities, assess businesses against Valsoft’s criteria, analyze financial data, and work with our M&A and analytical teams as deals progress. The role suits someone who enjoys both company analysis and market development.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in capital markets, private equity, venture capital, buy-and-hold investing, or M&A.
• Strong financial foundation and ability to understand financial statements, valuation, and transaction analysis.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to assess fit with acquisition criteria.
• Ability to move between quantitative analysis and conversations with founders, owners, and intermediaries.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel for company visits, management meetings, and business dinners.
• Down-to-earth, collaborative approach and openness to feedback and past decisions.

Responsibilities

• Deal origination and relationship building: Research vertical software markets and identify companies; Build and manage a pipeline; Conduct outreach to founders, owners, brokers, funds and intermediaries; Lead introductory conversations; Build trusted relationships with founders; Develop recurring relationships with brokers and target companies.
• Financial analysis and opportunity assessment: Assess potential acquisitions against investment criteria; Review financial statements and customer data; Identify risks and areas needing further investigation; Work with analytical team on financial models; Contribute to valuation analysis; Use financial data to support pricing discussions.
• Transaction and pipeline management: Support NDA, analysis, IOI, and LOI stages; Participate in discussions with sellers; Understand due diligence and collaborate with analytics team; Maintain contacts, financial data, pipeline stages in Salesforce; Travel for company visits and meetings; Improve how opportunities are sourced and evaluated.
