Job summary

Metis Search in Toronto is seeking an experienced M&A Associate for its Generalist Advisory team. The role centers on originating and executing transactions, working closely with senior bankers and clients throughout the deal lifecycle.

You will lead workstreams, build and review financial models, and prepare pitch books and client presentations, while mentoring Analysts and contributing to business development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or MBA in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or another quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of investment banking or M&A advisory experience without an MBA; or 1 year post-MBA.
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation, analytical, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the origination and execution of new advisory mandates, with a focus on M&A transactions.
  • Take ownership of key workstreams across live transactions, managing projects from initial engagement through to successful completion.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships while serving as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders during transaction execution.
  • Prepare and review complex financial models, valuation analyses, pitch books, marketing materials, and client presentations.
  • Mentor and support Analysts and other junior team members, ensuring high-quality execution and professional development.
  • Partner closely with senior bankers to deliver exceptional client service and contribute to business development initiatives.

As an Associate, you will play a key role in both the origination and execution of transactions, working closely with senior bankers and clients throughout the deal lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the origination and execution of new advisory mandates, with a focus on M&A transactions.

Requirements
  • Associate-level candidate with:
  • At least 3 years of investment banking or M&A advisory experience without an MBA; or
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant investment banking experience following completion of an MBA.
  • Previous experience gained at a leading investment bank or top-tier financial institution.
  • Bachelor's degree or MBA in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams independently while collaborating effectively within a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills, with a client-focused approach.
