Job summary

Great North Building Supplies in Ontario seeks a dependable Lumber Yard Worker to help with handling and organizing lumber and building materials in a fast-paced warehouse.

You will load and unload items from delivery trucks, count inventory, stock shelves, perform quality checks, operate a forklift, and assist with basic maintenance and snow removal as needed. This role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and strong time management, with training provided for forklift operation.

Qualifications

• Valid G Driver’s Licence is required.
• Forklift licence or training provided is available.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload lumber and building materials from delivery trucks and customer vehicles.
• Count inventory and ensure accurate documentation and quality checks.
• Stock and shelve products at designated locations.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for damage and proper labeling.
• Pull and stage customer orders accurately from picking lists.
• Operate a forklift to move, stack, and retrieve materials.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Perform yard maintenance and basic equipment checks.

Job description

We are seeking a dependable and physically capable Lumber Yard Worker to join our team. This role involves handling and organizing lumber and building materials in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Loading and Unloading: Safely and efficiently load and unload lumber and building materials from delivery trucks and customer vehicles.
• Inventory stock counting, documentation, and quality check.
• Stock/shelf products at their respective locations.
• Delivery quality check: Inspect incoming and outgoing material for damage, quality, defects, and correct product labeling, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
• Order fulfillment: Accurately pull, stage, and secure customer orders based on picking lists, ensuring the correct type, quantity, and dimensions of materials are included.
• Safely operate a forklift for stacking, retrieving, and moving materials.
• Stock Counting: Condust regular cycle counts and full physical inventories of all lumber and building materials.
• Yard cleanup, organization, and general maintenance.
• Forklift daily check and basic maintenance(oil, refuel, circle checks, simple repairs).
• Product pickup or deliveries as required.
• Snow removal at walkways, entrances, and around materials. Make safe with sand/salt.
• Ensure pre-operational inspections of equipment are completed as required.
• Light mechanical repairs on equipment as required (ex. Changing of light bulbs, greasing machines, etc.)
