Job summary

ZyTech Building Systems is seeking a Lumber Picker Helper to assist in moving lumber and materials across yard and shop areas. The role involves outdoor work in fluctuating temperatures, repetitive tasks, and constant movement throughout the yard.

Responsibilities include inspecting lumber for damage and correct type/length, banding/unbinding, yard cleanup, inventory tracking, and safe handling with forklift support. Must lift up to 50 lbs and wear steel-toed boots; PPE is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience with lumber picking and safety standards.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying temperatures.
• Proficient with tape measures and basic math.

Responsibilities

• Inspect lumber for damage and proper type/length by checking markings.
• Banding and unbinding of materials.
• General yard cleanup and organization.
• Track lumber inventory and report low levels to Supervisors.
• Organize materials, dispose waste, and protect items routinely.
• Manually handle lumber and move from stacks to forklift.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisors.

Job description

This position is responsible for assisting Lumber Pickers for the efficient and timely movement of lumber and materials. The position is required to work in fluctuating temperatures inside and outside, do repetitive tasks and to move around all day throughout the yard and shop.

What you’ll do

• Prior to picking, the lumber picker helper inspects product for damage and that the proper type of lumber is being picked by visually checking markings that indicate lumber type and length.
• Banding and unbinding of materials.
• General yard cleanup and organization.
• Inventory levels of lumber is to be tracked and critical/low levels are to be reported to Supervisors regularly.
• Thorough and complete organization of lumber materials, the cleaning/disposal of waste and protection of materials is required on a routine basis.
• Manually handle lumber and transfer lumber from stacks to forklift.
• All other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

What you need

• A Lumber Picker Helper is required to use an imperial tape measure and as well have basic math skills.
• Must be comfortable to use hammers, snips and banders.
• Required to lift up to 50lbs throughout the day.
• Steel-toed work boots and appropriate clothing to work outside are required. PPE (personal protective equipment) will be provided.
