Job summary

GardaWorld is seeking a Loss Prevention Security Guard in Alberta to patrol retail and other environments, reading the surroundings, and preventing theft. The role requires readiness to move throughout shifts and collaborate with law enforcement when needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to read environment and anticipate risk.
• Strong observational and social skills.
• Authorized to work in Canada and hold a security license.

Responsibilities

• Partner with law enforcement during serious incidents.
• Provide covert security support to deter and apprehend individuals involved in external criminal activities.
• Assist in de-escalating disorderly behaviour and conflicts within the store.
• Ensure theft apprehension is made with all five elements present.
• Adhere to the Criminal Code of Canada when apprehending and detaining.
• Prioritize safety of self, employees, and customers during arrests.
• Monitor suspicious customers and act as a deterrent.

As a Loss Prevention Security Guard, physical ability is essential as you will be moving around your entire shift, patrolling environments such as retail stores, airports, security facility centers, etc.

Responsibilities for Loss Prevention Security Guard

• Partner with law enforcement during serious incidents
• Provide covert security support to identify,deter and apprehend individuals involved in external criminal activities
• Assist in de-escalating disorderly behavourand conflincts within the store
• Theft apprehention must only be made with all five elements are present
• LPO's are required to adhere to the criminal code of canada when apprehending and detaining
• LPO's must always prioritize the saftey of themselves, store employees, and customers while carrying out their duties when making an arrest
• LPO's are to watch suspicious customers and be a deterant

Qualifications for a Loss Prevention Security Guard

• Be authorized to work in Canada
• Hold a valid security license
• First aid certification - {an asset}
• Ability to stand and walk throughoutshift
• Prior Loss Prevention experience/training is an asset
