Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is hiring a Longhole Driller, Miner 2 for the Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON. The role supports Near Surface operations, performing underground production drilling and related tasks within the construction department.

You will operate longhole rigs, prepare daily drilling reports, and ensure safety and housekeeping standards while meeting KPI targets. Schedule is 7/7 at the Macassa Mine with a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Miner 2 or equivalent (>6 years UG).
• Physically Fit, self starter with can do attitude.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Good Communication skills are essential.
• Strong understanding of longhole mining methods and procedures.
• Blasting experience is an asset.
• Experience Drilling on a Simba an asset.
• Underground common core is required.
• Tolerance for hot / cold and humid environment.
• Demonstrated Safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Operate longhole drilling rig in an underground environment; additional work may include loading explosives, installation, and grouting of cables for support.
• Prepare daily reports of all drilling activities which include footage drilled, ground conditions, time spent performing other activities besides drilling, reporting supplies consumed.
• Competently perform all Mining 1, 2, 3 & 4 functions (Services & Construction).
• Able to drill with CMAC and air buggy drills.
• Read and understand planned drill patterns.
• Wash, scale and prepare areas for safe mark-up activities.
• Ability to drill at a high standard and control deviation.
• Do minor repairs to rig: Replace hoses, shank adaptors etc.;
• Timing/Firing of EZ Dets and DigiShot;
• Demonstrate competence in relevant UG Hardrock common core;
• Housekeeping – keep work areas clean free from hazards;
• Communication – listen to and communicate with others, keep accurate records on 5 point card, aligning with daily tasks;
• Teamwork – work with others to meet and where possible exceed daily KPI’s set by Supervisor;
• Manage your own health and safety while at work and avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others;
• Comply with all instructions given by the employer, which relate to health and safety;
• Other duties as assigned.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

• Reporting to the Near Surface Supervisor, you will be part of the Near Surface Department. You will be responsible for supporting mine operations at the Near Surface Portal and carrying out underground production drilling and other mining tasks as directed, within the construction department. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment .
