Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking a skilled Longhole Driller, Miner 2 for our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON. You will support underground production drilling and related tasks, reporting to the Longhole Supervisor and ensuring safe, efficient operations in line with our safety codes.

Schedule is 7/7 at the Macassa Mine; you must have underground experience, strong communication, and a solid understanding of longhole methods.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Miner 2 or equivalent (>0 years UG).
• Ability to work independently and safely.
• Strong communication skills are essential.
• Solid understanding of longhole mining methods and procedures.
• Blasting experience is an asset.
• Underground common core is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate longhole drilling rig in an underground environment and perform related tasks as directed.
• Prepare and review daily drilling reports and records.
• Read and interpret planned drill patterns and ensure alignment with plans.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping in working areas and equipment.
• Assist with equipment maintenance and minor repairs as needed.
• Collaborate with the team to meet daily KPI targets and reporting requirements.
• Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and company policies.
• Support other duties as assigned by supervision.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Longhole Supervisor, you will be part of the Mine Operations Department. You will be responsible for supporting mine operations and carrying out underground production drilling and other mining tasks as directed, within the construction department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

• Completed & ongoing competence with required core modules;
• Operate longhole drilling rig in an underground environment. Additional work may include loading explosives, installation, and grouting of cables for support.
• Prepare daily reports of all drilling activities which include footage drilled, ground conditions, time spent performing other activities besides drilling, reporting supplies consumed, etc.’
• Competently perform all Mining 1, 2, 3 & 4 functions (Services & Construction)’
• Able to drill with CMAC and air buggy drills;
• Read and understand planned drill patterns;
• Wash, scale and prepare areas for safe mark-up activities;
• Ability to drill at a high standard and control deviation;
• Minor repairs to rig: Replace hoses, shank adaptors etc.;
• Timing/Firing of EZ Dets and DigiShot;
• Communication – listen to and communicate with others, keep accurate records on 5 point card, aligning with daily tasks;
• Teamwork – work with others to meet and where possible exceed daily KPI’s set by Supervisor;
• Comply with all instructions given by the employer, which relate to health and safety;
• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Miner 2 or equivalent (>6 years UG);
• Must be able to work independently;
• Good Communication skills are essential;
• Strong understanding of longhole mining methods and procedures;
• Blasting experience is an asset;
• Underground common core is required;
• Tolerance for hot / cold and humid environment;
• Demonstrated Safety awareness.

In accordance with applicable legislation, the expected compensation includes base salary and potential bonus opportunity. Your individual pay will reflect your skills and experience while remaining competitive within the local market.
