Job summary

Prime Transport Inc. in Canada is seeking a professional truck driver to operate straight and tractor-trailer configurations, including refrigerated loads, across local, provincial and international routes. The role emphasizes safety, cargo integrity, and accurate logkeeping.

You will drive as part of a two-person team, load and unload cargo, obtain required permits, and coordinate with dispatch to ensure on-time deliveries and compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation certificate.
• Air Brakes Endorsement and Air Brake (Z) Endorsement.
• Driver's License Class 1 or A.
• Willing to travel cross-border and internationally.
• Experience with highway and long-haul driving preferred.

Responsibilities

• Address customers' complaints or concerns.
• Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques.
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• Drive lighter, special purpose trucks.
• Load and unload goods.
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes.
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
• Pay and receive payments for goods.
• Perform brake adjustments.
• Perform emergency roadside repairs.
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo.
