GILL’Z TRANSPORT LTD, located in Edmonton, AB T6X 2A6, is seeking applications for the position of Long-haul Truck Driver who is enthusiastic and possesses excellent interpersonal skills. The selected applicant must join and assume their responsibilities as soon as possible.The employer is offering a permanent or full-time position. The shift timings for this position include the Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Overtime, Early Morning and Morning.

  • The candidate must plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, utilizing computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS), or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  • The candidate must respond to customer complaints or concerns.
  • The candidate must have experience driving in mountainous areas.
  • The candidate must maintain a professional demeanour in customer service.
  • The candidate must arrange travel, related itineraries, and make reservations.
  • The candidate must drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
  • The candidate must load and unload goods.
  • The candidate must obtain special permits and other documents required for international cargo transport.
  • The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials safely and efficiently.
  • The candidate must inspect the vehicle’s condition, including the brakes, tires, lights, and other essential components.
  • The candidate must be able to perform emergency roadside repairs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.
  • The candidate must perform preventive maintenance.
  • The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
  • The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
  • The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring the safety and security of cargo.
Job Requirements
  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The employer will provide training to the selected candidate.
  • The candidate must have a Driver’s License (Class 1 or A).
  • The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate must be well-organized.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
Work setting
  • The candidate must be able to work in multiple locations to support employees stationed at various worksites.
Documentation knowledge
  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about bill of lading, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip) and maintenance and repair reports.

  • The candidate must have experience operating flatbed trucks.
  • The candidate will be responsible for operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigational equipment.
