Job summary

GALAXY FREIGHTLINE INC based in Calgary, AB is seeking a Long haul driver. The role requires self-motivation and good interpersonal skills. This is a permanent, full-time position with shifts including Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Early Morning and Morning.

The driver will operate two-person team convoys, inspect and maintain trucks, and communicate with dispatch while ensuring safety and records compliance. AZ/Class 1 license and English fluency are required; high school diploma is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• The candidate must drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks in order to transport goods and materials.
• The candidate will be responsible for overseeing condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
• The candidate will be responsible for pre-trip, en route, and post-trip vehicle inspections, as well as overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.
• The candidate will be expected to perform preventive maintenance.
• The candidate will be expected to receive and relay information to central dispatch.
• The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in English language.
• The candidate should have minimum qualification of Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
• Candidate having experience is an asset.
• The candidate must have an AZ class licence as well as a driver’s licence (Class 1 or A).

Experience and Specialization

Documentation Knowledge

• The candidate must be well-versed in bill of lading, driver logbooks and inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip).
