Job summary

GDI Ainsworth is seeking an experienced Logistics & Warehouse Manager to establish and lead operations at our new central warehouse in Mississauga, Ontario. This role offers the chance to design warehouse processes from scratch and support multiple business units including Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical, BAS, and cleaning services.

You will oversee inventory controls, tool crib operations, and a team of warehouse staff, driving continuous improvement with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of warehouse, distribution, or logistics management experience.
  • Experience establishing or reorganizing warehouse operations is a strong asset.
  • Experience supporting construction, electrical, HVAC, industrial, mechanical, manufacturing, or service industries is preferred.
  • Experience managing tool crib operations or high-value equipment inventory is a significant asset.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse optimization, logistics, and material handling.
  • Experience with ERP systems, inventory management software, barcode or RFID tracking systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Proven leadership experience managing warehouse teams and supervisory personnel.
  • Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the warehouse layout, storage systems, inventory controls, and SOPs for the new facility.
  • Establish best practices for receiving, storage, picking, shipping, and material handling.
  • Oversee Central Tool Crib operations and ensure asset tracking and maintenance.
  • Provide leadership to Tool Crib Manager and ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate inventory levels to support field operations and project schedules.
  • Lead warehouse personnel with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.
  • Implement inventory management using ERP and WMS.
  • Conduct cycle counts and annual inventories.
  • Coordinate deliveries, freight, and logistics with vendors and internal departments.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Develop KPIs: inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, tool utilization, availability, turnaround times.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Project, Purchasing, Finance, and Service Managers.

Job Summary:

GDI Ainsworth is seeking an experienced, hands-on Logistics & Warehouse Manager to establish and lead operations at our new central warehouse in Mississauga. This is a unique opportunity to build warehouse processes from the ground up while supporting one of Canada's leading integrated multi-trade service providers. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, implementing, and managing all warehouse operations that support multiple business units, including: Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical, Building Automation Systems (BAS) and GDI Cleaning Services, including Electric Motor Repair & Service Shop and Central Tool Crib Operations.

This role is ideal for a motivated leader who enjoys creating efficient systems, leading teams, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the warehouse layout, storage systems, inventory controls, and standard operating procedures for the new facility.
  • Establish best practices for receiving, storage, picking, shipping, inventory management, and material handling across all business units.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Central Tool Crib, ensuring tools, equipment, and specialty assets are properly issued, tracked, maintained, inspected, and returned.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Tool Crib Manager, ensuring consistent processes, inventory accuracy, preventive maintenance, calibration scheduling (where applicable), and excellent customer service for field personnel.
  • Coordinate inventory levels to ensure materials, tools, equipment, and critical spare parts are available to support field operations and project schedules.
  • Lead and supervise warehouse personnel while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement inventory management processes utilizing ERP and warehouse management systems.
  • Conduct cycle counts and annual inventories while maintaining high inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate deliveries, freight, transportation, and logistics with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, company policies, and warehouse best practices.
  • Maintain warehouse equipment and oversee facility organization, housekeeping, and preventative maintenance.
  • Develop warehouse and tool crib Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, tool utilization, equipment availability, turnaround times, and service levels.
  • Work closely with Operations Managers, Project Managers, Purchasing, Finance, and Service Managers to ensure efficient support for all business units.

The salary range is $70,000 - $85,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data. The base salary is just one component of Ainsworth’s total compensation package, which also includes additional rewards and benefits such as short-term incentives and health insurance, among others.
