This position will is responsible for optimizing shipment routes, managing order data, and supporting the shipping team to ensure timely and efficient deliveries. The role involves extensive use of route planning software, data analysis, and communication with internal teams and managers to keep freight operations running smoothly. Responsibilities:
  • Plan daily freight shipment routes based on existing routes and customer orders
  • Input order details into the route planning software and document route times for each run
  • Utilize analytical thinking to adjust shipments, maximize cube rates, fulfill urgent orders, or cancel shipments based on business priorities
  • Set up system product picks for shipping team members to prepare products for daily loads
  • Create daily trip sheets and load sheets for internal teams and truck drivers
  • Communicate effectively with internal team members and managers regarding order status or potential shipment delays
  • Analyze data to recommend route changes that improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Track and report cube rate and freight cost per unit (CPU); provide weekly updates to the manager

Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in logistics or supply chain management are a plus
  • Proficiency with route planning software, such as Elite Plus, or willingness to learn
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to optimize shipments and adjust routes based on business needs
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting on logistics metrics
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with internal teams and drivers
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation (trip sheets, load sheets, etc.)
  • Organized with strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Knowledge of logistics and shipping processes is preferred
