Job summary

Canada Royal Milk in Kingston, Ontario, is seeking a Logistics & Customs Specialist to coordinate domestic and international logistics while ensuring customs, trade, and regulatory compliance. You will manage import/export documentation, work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams, and support cost optimization and uninterrupted supply.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in logistics, customs, import/export, freight forwarding or international trade.
  • CIFFA, CCS (Certified Customs Specialist), CSCB designation or equivalent considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day‑to‑day logistics operations including import/export coordination, transportation scheduling and shipment tracking.
  • Prepare and validate all shipping and customs documentation (Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Health Certificate, Certificate of Origin, COA, Insurance, FDA Prior Notice, etc.).
  • Coordinate customs clearance activities with CBSA, CFIA, Health Canada, FDA, customs brokers and other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain HS Code database and ensure correct tariff classification, customs valuation and country of origin determination.
  • Monitor tariffs, anti‑dumping duties, surtaxes and international trade agreements (CUSMA/USMCA, CPTPP and others) and assess business impact.
  • Perform landed cost calculations including freight, duties, tariffs and brokerage charges.

About the Role

Reporting to the Logistics and Supply Chain Manager, The Logistics & Customs Specialist is responsible for coordinating domestic and international logistics operations while ensuring full compliance with customs, trade, transportation, and regulatory requirements. The role manages import/export documentation, customs clearance, tariff classification, trade compliance, and transportation activities while working closely with internal departments, customs brokers, freight forwarders, regulatory agencies, and customers. The position supports cost optimization, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted supply chain operations.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business or related discipline.

Experience: 3–5 years of experience in logistics, customs, import/export, freight forwarding or international trade.

Preferred Certifications: CIFFA, CCS (Certified Customs Specialist), CSCB designation or equivalent considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Knowledge of CBSA, CFIA, Health Canada, FDA and international trade regulations.
  • Strong understanding of HS Classification, tariffs, customs valuation and Incoterms.
  • Experience with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers and warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of CARM, FDA Prior Notice and customs documentation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP proficiency.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform day‑to‑day logistics operations including import/export coordination, transportation scheduling and shipment tracking.
  • Prepare and validate all shipping and customs documentation (Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Health Certificate, Certificate of Origin, COA, Insurance, FDA Prior Notice, etc.).
  • Coordinate customs clearance activities with CBSA, CFIA, Health Canada, FDA, customs brokers and other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain HS Code database and ensure correct tariff classification, customs valuation and country of origin determination.
  • Monitor tariffs, anti‑dumping duties, surtaxes and international trade agreements (CUSMA/USMCA, CPTPP and others) and assess business impact.
  • Perform landed cost calculations including freight, duties, tariffs and brokerage charges.
  • Support CARM account administration, customs audits, record keeping and broker reconciliations.
  • Review customs entries, broker invoices and freight invoices for accuracy.
  • Coordinate permits, import licences, Certificates of Free Sale and regulatory documentation.
  • Track shipments and resolve transportation or customs delays.
  • Develop and maintain logistics SOPs and work instructions.
  • Monitor freight performance and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Prepare logistics KPI reports and customs compliance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with OHSA, transportation regulations, food safety and trade compliance requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions

Standard office hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Flexibility is required to support international shipments across multiple time zones. Occasional work in warehouse and production areas requiring PPE.
