Responsibilities

The selected candidate will perform the following functions:

  • Ensure compliance with safety, operations, and Transport Canada regulations.
  • Perform periodic and annual inspections, understanding relevant regulations.
  • Wire, maintain, repair, rebuild, inspect, and install electrical equipment such as rheostats, control systems, transformers, motors, generators, lighting fixtures, cab heaters, batteries, and related systems.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance on all electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot and test electrical systems on diesel-electric locomotives, including high and low voltage, grounded components, wheel slip, and electrical load conditions.
  • Work safely.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
General Requirements
  • Possess a professional certificate in Electromechanical or Electrical field.
  • Have at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations, including working hours, service calls, overtime, and outside work conditions.
  • Positive attitude and good communication skills.
  • Prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • High level of autonomy and resourcefulness.
  • Experience or knowledge in programmable automation is an asset.
