Job summary

UBC is seeking a Locksmith Apprentice - Trades 2 to gain hands-on experience in installing, repairing, and maintaining door hardware, locks, and master key systems. The role operates within a structured apprenticeship program and reports to the Manager of Operations and Infrastructure.

The incumbent will advance through a formal training schedule, completing required qualifications while contributing to campus security and access control.

Responsibilities

• Obtain materials and equipment for assigned work.
• Lock cylinders for master key systems under guidance.
• Repair locks and closures on campus under supervision.
• Maintain records per procedures.
• Assist in selecting hardware and keying for new buildings.
• Cut keys as required and install/maintain locks and door hardware.
