Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking an excavator operator to support production at our Cochrane, Alberta site. You will operate excavators safely, perform routine inspections, and handle materials to meet daily production targets while prioritizing accuracy and care.

The role requires staying aware of surroundings, following site safety protocols, and working both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • Operate excavators in a production or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and situational awareness.
  • Perform basic equipment inspections and report issues promptly.
  • Capable of working independently and in a team setting.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older; post-offer background check conducted.
  • Valid Class 3 driver's license with air brake endorsement.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Operate excavators safely and efficiently to support production and loading activities.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and identify maintenance needs.
  • Handle materials to meet production targets while maintaining accuracy and care.
  • Follow site safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safe work practices.
  • Support additional operational tasks to ensure smooth daily site operations.
What Are We Looking For
  • Proficient in operating excavators in a production or industrial environment.
  • Strong situational awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to perform basic equipment inspections and report issues promptly.
  • Comfortable working both independently and within a team environment.
  • Reliable, adaptable, and capable of meeting daily operational demands.
  • Valid Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement
Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination and background check.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Verification of age will be required as a condition of employment.
Work Environment
  • Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
