Job summary

Aplin is seeking a Load Settlement Analyst Specialist to guide rule modernization, strengthen settlement operations, and ensure reliable outcomes in a regulated energy marketplace. You will be the technical expert translating findings into practical actions while coordinating with stakeholders as market requirements evolve.

The role supports settlement windows, data quality, and system enhancements, with hybrid work options in Calgary or Edmonton.

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative or business discipline (business, economics, finance, accounting, engineering, math, computer science, or similar).
• Senior level experience in load settlement and related market operations within a regulated environment.
• Working knowledge of settlement platforms and end-to-end settlement processes including validation, troubleshooting, and reporting.
• Solid understanding of meter data management and energy transaction processing concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret settlement codes, tariff billing requirements, and operational standards.
• Strong critical thinking, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Confident communicator who can simplify complex topics and influence outcomes.
• Nice to have: Alberta market exposure, market rules familiarity, distribution utility operations, SQL and analytics or BI tooling.

• Diagnose settlement issues, discrepancies, and data anomalies and drive resolution.
• Coordinate with external market participants to answer inquiries and close open items.

• Contribute to settlement related system enhancements and reporting improvements.
• Present findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical groups.
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships while balancing multiple deadlines.
