A leading tech company is seeking a Load and Performance Test Engineer in Toronto. This role involves leading testing initiatives, developing automated test suites, and enhancing application testability while fostering a DevOps culture. The successful candidate will work closely with software developers and product managers, ensuring high-quality software engineering practices.
We are seeking a Load and Performance Test Engineer to join our Software Engineering team.
As a Load and Performance Test Engineer, you will:
• Lead load and performance test initiatives
• Create, update, run, and fix advanced automated test suites using continuous integration tools.
• Collaborate with software developers and product to determine how to test existing and new technologies.
• Share results of testing with the engineering and product managers and help identify areas of improvement
• Enhance the load and performance testability of our applications by applying best practices and techniques.
• Resolve issues, understand user needs, and devise effective solutions to complex problems.
• Assess testing tasks and works independently with a positive team spirit.
• Review application code to come up with performance and load test strategies.
• Foster a DevOps culture, ensuring tight cooperation between development and operations teams for efficient production and deployment of software, simplifying processes, and minimizing system issues.
• Maintain high-quality software engineering practices in the areas of code quality, testing, and security.
• Monitor and analyze key quality metrics to track product load and performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Establish and maintain a strong communication channel with other departments to ensure quality expectations are met throughout the SDLC process.
• Conduct root cause analysis of quality issues and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Adhere to the agile software development life cycle best practices and governance.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
• Experience with cloud-based QA tools and testing in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure)
• Experience with performance testing and monitoring tools (Example: JMeter, LoadRunner).
• Experience with test management tools such as Xray or TestRail.
• Familiarity with database testing and data management tools (SQL, ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Kafka).
• Hands on experience developing and maintaining test automation suites using tools such as Playwright
• Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and quality control processes.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jenkins or Git for continuous integration/continuous testing.
• Experience in using statistical analysis and quality control tools
• Experience with release/deployment processes.
• Results-oriented self-starter in need of limited or no supervision
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS.
Education and Experience:
• BS/MS Engineering degree or equivalent
• A minimum of 5-7 years of development experience in a test role, with a deep understanding of load and performance test frameworks.

Pay range: $110,000 - $130,000. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operations business needs.
Depending on the position, compensation may also include commission, bonuses, etc. Potential for bonuses is based on company performance and potential for merit increases is based on performance.
