Position Overview: Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA)
  1. Patient Assessment and Care Assistance:
    • Assist with patient assessments and care under RN supervision.
    • Measure and record patient information (height, weight, vital signs).
    • Manage specimens, perform bedside or point-of-care lab testing, and observe/report patient responses.
    • Identify and report deviations in vital signs or patient observations.
  2. Preparation of Treatment Rooms:
    • Prepare rooms for patients, assist with feeding and nutritional intake, and manage patient hygiene needs.
    • Assist with tube care and management of external devices.
  3. Patient Care and Mobility:
    • Transport patients and assist with self-care, dressing, and ambulation.
    • Support exercise therapy and help with patient transfers.
  4. Safety and Environment:
    • Promote patient safety, maintain environmental cleanliness, and observe precautions for oxygen, transmission-based diseases, and allergies.
    • Provide emergency care as needed and maintain knowledge of safety protocols.
  5. Patient Rights and Comfort:
    • Protect patient privacy and rights, minimize anxiety, facilitate visitation, and provide comfort measures.
    • Assist with newborn care and transport, and support communication needs.
  6. Knowledge and Communication:
    • Maintain current clinical knowledge and skills pertinent to the role.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team using available resources.
  7. Procedure Performance and Documentation:
    • Perform procedures such as blood glucose testing, pulse oximetry, dressing changes, IV removal, and use of restraints under RN supervision.
    • Enter physician orders, process labs and tests, and document accurately.
  8. Unit Operations:
    • Maintain supplies, equipment, and documentation; participate in emergency responses; orient new staff.
