Job description

Summary
Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions
  1. Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
  2. Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
  3. Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
  4. Helps patients with basic hygiene tasks, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
  5. Assists with turning and repositioning patients in bed and helps them transfer between bed and wheelchair if needed.
  6. Listens to patient health concerns and reports them to nurses.
Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Experience in lieu of degree is not accepted.

Licenses and Credentials
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) - preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (Massachusetts) - preferred
  • Nursing Assistant (LNA - New Hampshire) - preferred
Experience

1-2 years of experience in patient or elder care preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong patient/customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds with assistance.
  • Proficient in electronic medical records.
