Job summary

Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry in Chilliwack, BC is hiring a dependable Jr Shipper for our Forge Pl distribution warehouse. You will work in a fast-paced, food-safety focused environment supporting live poultry processing and packaging flows.

Ideal candidates have basic experience in food processing or warehouse operations, a strong attention to detail, and reliability. We offer comprehensive benefits, internal growth, and a friendly, team-first culture.

Qualifications

• Must have some experience in food processing or warehouse operations.
• Assets: forklift ticket and related safety credentials.
• WHMIS and Food Safe certifications are beneficial to this role.

Responsibilities

• Receive and handle live birds according to animal welfare guidelines.
• Hang live birds safely and humanely on the processing line.
• Monitor bird condition and report concerns immediately.
• Perform slaughter tasks in compliance with regulations and SOPs.
• Maintain hygiene and sanitation to support HACCP controls.
• Follow all safety procedures and SOPs; help in other departments as required.

What you’ll do

• Receive and handle live birds according to animal welfare guidelines.
• Hang live birds safely and humanely on the processing line.
• Monitor bird condition and report concerns immediately.

Slaughter & Primary Processing

• Perform slaughter tasks in compliance with regulations and facility SOPs.
• Remove birds from the line and place birds onto the line as needed.
• Strip wax, pull pin feathers, and complete other de-feathering steps.
• Maintain steady workflow to meet production targets.

Operational Duties

• Work in cold rooms, wet areas, or steamy environments for extended periods.
• Handle raw poultry while maintaining strict hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Keep work areas clean to support HACCP food safety controls.
• Follow all equipment safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements (as applicable).
• Maintain and adhere to all company policies and SOP's
• Adhere to all HACCP and WorkSafeBC requirements
• Help in other departments as required

Relevant Experience: Any sort of food processing experience, forklift ticket, air ticket, WHMIS, food safe and first aid are all assets to this position but not required.
